Hello beautiful internet people. If you haven’t seen my last couple of blog posts I’d encourage you to give them a read and visit the links I’ve shared over on my Art for Change. For today’s post I’m going to share with you some of the recent digital illustrations I’ve finished, a couple of pieces I’ve been working on, and throw out some information about my upcoming shop re-launch.
Sometimes when I see photos or scenes I get a super strong urge to draw them, and the most recent of these momentary muses was a photo of my best friend with a giant red pepper in her mouth. The first thing that popped into my head was, ‘I could turn her into a demon with a massive demon tongue.’ I voiced my thoughts and was met by an enthusiastic yes, so I got to drawing. That’s pretty much all I have to say about that, so without further ado, here’s the drawing.
One of my wonderful art friends over on Twitter (@Zenancyne) hosted a draw this in your style and I was completely mesmerised by their original drawing I just had to give it a go. Following drawing my beautiful best friend a couple of times, and a scattering of other people I’ve been feeling a little more comfortable with human subjects, so this DTIYS was a welcome challenge and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I played around with a supernatural mermaid-esque take on the original, as if there’s one thing I will always love it is anything and everything supernatural!
Next up is my rainbow Pride bat. In my UK artists group on Twitter we decided to do a bat themed Pride collaboration in order to host several auctions for an LGBTQ cause. We’ll be holding the auctions on Twitter on the 30th June, so make sure to pop over on the day so that you don’t miss out! I’ve never tried to draw a bat before so I wasn’t sure how I’d find this particular project, but I had so much fun with it, and I’m really happy with how they turned out. Here is a look at the original illustration alongside the print that will be going up for auction.
Before we move onto the exciting cat art news, here is an ominous little illustration I did when thinking about the end of the world. I have an idea I’ve been growing and developing in my head and a scrappy notebook for a post-apocalypse themed adventure role playing game. Will this ever happen? Who knows, watch this space I guess. I hope to update more on this in the future. If you didn’t see my Zombie piece a while back check it out to see where this idea has grown from.
Finally, cats! This coming Friday 3rd July I will be re-launching my Big Cartel with a cute selection of cat pieces I’ve been working on for the past couple of months. This is the culmination of a lot of love and I’ll be honest a fair bit of pain – anyone who has ever tried to sew or embroider you know what I’m talking about! I’m so excited and I can’t wait to share my updated Big Cartel and everything I have on offer here very soon. Here’s a little look at some of the pieces you’ll find for sale on Friday. 10% of the profits I make from all of these items will be donated to Sheffield Cat Shelter to give them a helping hand over the summer, as summer means kitten, kittens, and more kittens!
